Why Blown-In Insulation is the Best Choice for Your Home

Suppose you wanted to cover the floors of your Elk Grove Village home with carpeting. Would you be better off buying wall-to-wall carpeting professionally installed, or buying throw rugs you tossed around yourself? Naturally you would choose the warm, even coverage of the professionally installed carpeting. The same concept applies to blown-in insulation in attics.

Coverage Everywhere

Traditional paper-backed, rolled insulation is great, between joists. It is not so great when you, as an amateur, try to stuff it around chimneys or into corners. By contrast, blown-in insulation can be placed exactly where it is desired, to the thickness level desired. In the hands of a skilled professional, blown-in insulation can go into niches and tiny spaces just as readily as it can fill between joists.

In just a short installation session, your local, friendly contractor can insulate your entire attic with high-quality fiberglass insulation to the R-value you select. Getting the same results with rolled out insulation would take longer, require a larger crew, and never quite equal the insulating value of the blown-in product.

Why Blown-In Is Better

Fiberglass insulation keeps out the cold during tough Illinois winters because it traps air, slowing the escape of heat from inside your home. In summer, when the path is reversed, the same insulation keeps the heat out. You feel more comfortable year-round with adequate insulation in your attic.

Why is blown-in insulation better than rolled insulation? The more air you trap in the fibers of the insulation, the better. Thick, billowy, fluffy mounds of insulation trap far more air than an even 3”-thick blanket. When you get insulation blown in, your joists completely disappear in a pink blizzard, providing all the insulation you will need, in every corner of your attic.

Adams Roofing Professionals relies on renowned Owens Corning fiberglass insulation pumped into your attic through its AttiCat® Insulation Blowing Machine. The familiar pink insulation is chopped up and aerated as it travels up a tube into your attic, where it settles ever so lightly on your attic wood structural members. Since fiberglass does not settle, it will not compact with time, keeping its insulation value for decades.

Adams Roofing Professionals uses the AttiCat® insulation system from Dow Corning, providing Elk Grove Village residents the most complete, most efficient blown-in insulation process possible. Contact us today to learn more or to schedule a visit.
