Regular wear and tear affect many different parts of your home. For roofs, you’ll need to call a roofer to help you either repair worn out areas in your roof or, if the damage is serious enough, replace the whole roof entirely. Fixing damaged portions of a roof is possible and is done fairly often. However, it’s a vastly different story when it comes to siding installation and replacement.
While it is possible to replace parts of your siding system, many experts advise against doing so. There are many reasons for this and here are a few of them explained by our siding specialists at Adams Roofing Professionals, Inc.
If the damage is contained to one area only, it’s definitely more practical to get partial siding and roof repair. An example of this is when the cause of the problem is chipping, cracking, or breaking from impact by an object like a ball or a rock. In these cases, you can call your exterior renovation contractor to fix only the affected area. If the damage is large enough to affect an entire siding board, it may be challenging to find a matching replacement but it is certainly not impossible.
Replacing sections of your siding may be a minor compared to other exterior remodeling projects, but it still involves some construction. This means you’re potentially risking damage to other areas of your siding which, in turn, may require replacement themselves. Additionally, finding a single replacement board that matches the rest of your home is actually difficult enough that many homeowners and siding installers just simply choose to replace the siding for the entire home instead.
As always, prevention is always better than the cure or, in this case, repair. Talk to your siding and roofing contractor about regular preventive maintenance to keep your siding in good shape and avoid any untimely need for replacement.
